  1. Increased thirst – With diabetes, your kidneys are forced to work to filter and absorb the excess glucose your body produces. When your kidneys are unable to carry on, the excreted glucose is passed into your urine along with the fluids from your tissues leaving you feeling thirsty.
     
  2. Excessive hunger – In a diabetic situation, your body cannot process the glucose leading you to not get enough energy from the food you eat. This causes excessive hunger in diabetic patients.
     
  3. Sudden weight loss – Your body starves when it doesn’t receive glucose and hence uses energy by burning fat from your body at a rapid rate. If you are experiencing weight loss without trying, you may want to get your diabetes checked.

  10.  High levels of ketone in the urine - Generally, the presence of some amount of ketones in the urine is normal but if the ketone levels are too high this could indicate that you might be diabetic.

  2. Eating a healthy diet: Diet plays a very important role in controlling your risk of developing diabetes. Incorporating healthy greens, fruits, proteins, vitamins, etc. can help reduce the risk to a larger extent. 
     
  3. Staying hydrated: Drinking enough water can help balance your blood sugar and insulin levels. Water not only keeps you hydrated but also gets rid of the excess glucose that is present in your body. It is advised to drink at least 7-8 glasses of water every day.
     
  4. Avoiding sugar and processed foods: Eating excess amounts of sugar and processed foods can have a negative impact on the overall function of the body. Sugar and processed foods contain high amounts of calories, which contribute to weight gain, thus increasing your risk of developing diabetes.
     
  5. Avoid smoking: Smoking increases the risk of many health conditions including diabetes. It makes your body resistant to insulin thus spiking up blood sugar levels.
